About Denver Adventures

Denver Adventures was founded in 2005. The adventurous activities are spearheaded by the company’s founder, Stefan Van der Steen, an outdoor adventure enthusiast with a dream of bringing people closer to the outdoors in a fun and active way. The Rocky Mountains close to Denver are the perfect platform for easy access to a wide variety of terrain and natural scenery to suite anybody’s needs. Every one of our adventures invites you to enjoy and use nature’s wonders but at the same time respect, admire, and learn from it.

Our team of experienced guides has had more than its fair share of enjoying the Rockies. Over time, they all have built extensive knowledge of physical exercise, altitude, trails, parks, and natural attractions but are also active participants of races and volunteer efforts. Stefan, for instance, focuses on endurance events such as The Triple Bypass, Ultra100, Olympic distance triathlons, marathons, and even an IronMan!

Denver Adventures was set up to provide hassle-free, tailor-made, adrenaline-fueled adventures. Denver Adventures is run by extreme sports enthusiasts specializing in ziplining, hiking, mountain-biking, rock climbing, snowshoeing and whitewater kayaking. We are passionate about sharing our love and enthusiasm for adventure with other thrill-seekers like you…

I am committed to giving people the chance to explore places that they wouldn’t normally get to, pushing themselves beyond the limits of what they thought they were capable of, all while having a safe and enjoyable adventure.

Hi!  I moved here from a small town in northwest Iowa about 6 years ago and fell in love with Colorado!  I have worked at Denver Adventures and Zipline Tours for 5 years and wouldn’t change it for the world!  I truly believe your job should be something you enjoy.  My favorite things about my job are my co-workers and meeting people from around the world.  I look forward to meeting you and sharing an adventure in the beautiful state of Colorado!

I’m a Hoosier at heart and a Coloradan in spirit. After growing up in Indianapolis, IN and graduating from Indiana University with a degree in Geology I moved to Colorado to take full advantage of this extraordinary states access to the great outdoors. I’ve lived here for over 15 years now spending every available moment in the Colorado wilderness. Whether it’s skiing, canoeing, hiking, biking, rafting, fishing, sailing, backpacking, kayaking, climbing, or zip-lining where ever adventure takes you, I’d love to come along for the ride!

What’s up guys! Kipp’s the name, adventure’s my game! From running half marathons to zipping through the skies to ski instructing to cliff jumping to ocean kayaking to hiking 14ers I have always had a love for the outdoors. And there aren’t many places to enjoy the amazing creation we have been blessed with than the Colorado mountains! I have also been a drummer and a vocalist for many years and recently picked up the acoustic guitar. Hope to see you mountainside!

I am (almost) a Colorado native and have been stomping around in the woods and falling off rocks since I first learned how to walk. An active member / board member of one of our local Colorado Search and Rescue groups, I am always working to grow and leverage my outdoor skills and knowledge. I love hiking, skiing, snowboarding, fly fishing, kayaking, and taking the occasional break to read good novels.

I love anything outside. Clibming mountains makes me happy, even more when I get to ride down on a 50 mph zip line! blood is 80% NOS and I like it that way!

Luke grew up in Lakewood CO and has been outside all of his life. He has been skiing, camping, backpacking, and mountain biking most of his life. At the age of five he started rock climbing and has competed in climbing on a national level. He has tried just about every discipline of adventure sports but has a strange obsession with climbing, skiing, and Doritos Locos Tacos. Luke has recently moved to Bozeman, MT to study English Writing and the outdoors. He still works during breaks from school and has worked for Denver Adventures for a whopping four years now, loving every moment of it.

I don’t think I’ve ever ran barefoot on a trail and not had a smile on my face or joy in my heart afterwards.

That phrase may just sum up why being an adventure guide is a good fit for me. It was the mountains to climb and the sunshine that brought me out of the Northwoods near Lake Superior to venture into Colorado and it is a pleasure to be here. Besides running, I enjoy rock climbing, mountain biking, camping, making music and singing, and learning about anything and everything under the sun. I’m a bit of a science and environmental nerd at times and I also love a good joke. Expect a fun-filled adventure if I end up being your guide. I look forward to meeting you and guiding you through whatever excellent time we have together.

Sam started working with Denver Adventures in 2011 and was part of the original construction crew on the ziplines. Many people ask, “Who was dumb enough to be the first one down the line?” well that was Sam. When he isn’t guiding here in Colorado he is designing and building ziplines all over the world. He has worked on projects in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Turkey and South Korea. Sam is also an avid skier and ski patrols at Arapahoe Basin.

McGuire hails from the tiny town of Cleveland, WI!  His love of the outdoors has been there since the beginning. He was a hunter, fisherman, bmx biker and swimmer in WI.  Upon moving to Vail in 2002 he discovered a love of snowboarding, mountain biking and climbing which he continues to enjoy in Denver these days. As with most experiences, they are often enjoyed most when shared with others.  This is why he got into guiding with Denver Adventures. “Mac” truly hopes you have one of your best days while spending time with us!
